Delegates are invited to wear their sashes at a German Barbeque held in Langley to help promote fundraising for the Variety Club Children's Charity and the Oktoberfest Show on September 21.

CONTESTANTS WILL BE PLAYING HOST FOR THIS EVENT!!
Variety - The Children's Charity invites you to register in our 1st VARIETY SUMMER SMASH BEACH VOLLEYBALL Tournament at Urban Beach to help raise funds for BC's children with special needs on August 24th. We expect to have over 20 teams and 300 people involved mostly over the age of 19. This event will involve teachers, office workers, international students and all types of outgoing and social people.
Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of volleyball and then head over to the Shark Club for the after party and a few drinks with the rest of the participants. Invite friends and family to come out and watch.
Hotdogs and Beverages will be on sale with all proceeds going to Variety.
A Chance to win prizes and Medals will be available for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams and for the Most Outgoing Team!

Urban Beach, False Creek
Teams play a minimum of five games to determine court champions. A playoff determines the divisional winner. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Most Outgoing Team!
Divisions:
Recreational Division: Variety Recreational division is easy to play. No pressure. No jocks. Just fun! Spiking and overheard serving is not permitted.
Semi-Hero Division: Semi competitive. Show what you are made of! Good sportsmanship is a must.
After Party:
6:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Shark Club, Downtown Vancouver (after party)
Free for participants or advance tickets and at the door for the general public
One free beverage

The Pageant officially begins at 6:00pm. This includes an orientation meeting on the events to follow, as well as an "Oktoberfest 101" lesson. Contestants will be listening to this lesson carefully so they may use any extra information to their Oktoberfest Presentations. Photo for the program book will be taken as well. |

Rehearsal from 8:00am - 3:00pm at The Austria Club in Richmond. Oktoberfest Presentations and Talent Judging will also be held here commencing at 7:00pm. Entry fee to watch this is ten dollars at the door. |
Friday, September 19, 2003
Voice over recording in a professional studio in North Vancouver for all of the delegates. Interview Judging takes place on this date as well. |

Saturday, September 20, 2003
Rehearsal at The Austria Club will take place from 8:00am until 2:00pm. Contestants will then get ready to go out for dinner where they will be judged on their hostessing and polka dancing (essentially - THE DEGREE TO WHICH THEY EMBRACE THE SPIRIT OF GEMUETLICHKEIT - are the delegates genuinely having a good time and sharing this with others), constituting 5% of their overall score. Ms. Gemeutlichkeit is also voted on here by the contestants and will be announced at The Pageant. |

PAGEANT DAY!!! Contestants must be at The German Alpen Club no later than 12:00 noon with hair and make-up done (Touch ups will be provided before the show commences).
Contestants be fitted for their Dirndls (German Dress delegates will be modeling). There will be a Technical Rehearsal with the show commencing at 7:00pm.
